Audience
research analysis.
Introduction
I will be analysing the results being acquired from
my music genre questionnaire, furthermore I will be highlighting the trends and
patterns shown on this responses I have gotten from the questionnaire and I
will lastly be analysis reasons why people have given this responses and the
changes I have noticed.
From my survey I realised that a lot of females where
those who were interested in my questionnaire/survey. I also realised that it
was from age 16 and under and also 18 to 24 who were interested in answering
the survey and felt it interested and related to them. Furthermore most of the
audiences/ readers answering the surveys didn’t have an occupation mainly due
to their age. I realised that they answered questions in full detail and didn’t
divert from the questions being asked as my questions were very well clear and
clarified and also was not too long.
Additionally I highlighted that they gave a lot of
full feedback and left no blanks due to my questions not being too long, albeit
I used a range of methods while structuring my questions to achieve the
responses I wanted. So however I used closed and opened questions to acquire
qualitative and quantitative data/ responses.
Furthermore I realised that only my audiences thought
that they only expect females to read a music magazine because they believe
males have no interest in using magazines.
Secondly I noticed from the responses of the audience
that music impacts their lifestyle and decision making. This due to what the
media portrays of what their favourite artist look like and what their lifestyle is then audiences start to copy this behaviour and lifestyle. This also
affects their decision making in society as audiences can also be influenced by
words sang in songs and things they have perceived in music videos and do the
same neither it being right or wrong.
Furthermore I
noticed from my audience research that some genres are stereotyped as a male
genre eg rap
From my survey I
learnt audiences usually believe that grimes stereotyped as a male genre due to
there not being a lot of female grime artists and is mainly dominated by male
artist also not a lot of females listen or are interested in grime music.
Additionally a lot of female don’t understand the words and slangs used in
grime music so they don’t feel like it represents them so majority of them
don’t listen to it.
In continuation I
also realised who my target audience are from the my research and it is kids
from age 16 to 24 as they were mostly the ones who answered the questionnaire
and could relate to the questions being asked and felt like they could relate
to the questions asked and it also connoted a sense of representation.
Conclusions.
In conclusion
from my research I noticed that peoples peers and the mood they are influences
their choice of music, this this because most of my audience have mentioned
they spend most of their time with their peers and that influenced their choice
of music they listen to because they listen to it as a group as they all share
the same experiences and thoughts and meaning of the songs being heard. However
I also highlighted that people have different favourite genres this links to
people being different and helps with identifying peoples target audiences. I
also highlighted that my audience’s expectation of what a female hip hop artist
should look like was very feminine and very explicit in terms of dressing and
style, however they expected a music female hip hop to be very independent and
very sexual in words used in their songs. This is because of what is been seen
on the media and portrayed by the media, through music videos and music
magazine article pages. So there for their expectations of what a music female
artist has been set on a concrete mind set.
